The camera that the GC-PX10 resembles most is the Sony NEX-5N ($699. The JVC's fixed 10x Konica Minolta HD zoom lens is firmly, and permanently, attached. The controls are laid out in a way that make more sense for video use, and can be a bit awkward to use for stills in anything but automatic mode. The field of view changes a bit when shooting stills, which are in 4:3 aspect ratio rather than 16:9. Unlike the NEX-5N, you won't able to change lenses. 5 (35mm equivalent) field of view, which is great for telephoto recording, but can be a bit limiting in when shooting in tight spaces. If you shoot within the app, you have the option to shoot with the forward or rear-facing camera. Pick a camera, and then shoot live with it, or, choose a photo from your photo library and add the camera’s effect to your photo. The photos you have taken (or altered) within the app will be accessible from a thumbnail picture on the bottom left. If you prefer to use a photo from your photo library, tap the top left icon to bring up your pictures. First of all, most filter apps either have you use the filters live only, like Hipstamatic, or after the fact only. This action takes and saves the photo, both within the app and in your iDevice’s camera roll.
